The Evil Empire is Listening

I installed the Office 2007 and OneNote 2007 BETAs last week. While trolling for info about them, I found this on the Task and Time Management in Outlook blog on MSDN:

There is a lot of good stuff coming in Outlook 2007. You can download the Outlook 2007 beta at Microsoft’s site.

I am going to try to use the new Outlook 2007 in my revamp of my system. I think that I am going to go back to using my HP iPAQ 4700 for tasks and calendar. Outlook 2007 does do iCAL subscriptions but I have yet to find out how. I saw a post with a screenshot of Outlook 2007 with someone’s Google Calendar so it must be able to be done. I will have to investigate it more.

This does mean that I may not use Tracks as much, which disappoints me. I wish that there was a way for it to sync to Outlook so that I could then sync it to my PDA. I really like the app. But there is no way for me to have my NAs with me all of the time. I am going to investigate MyLifeOrganized a little also, as well as add Evernote Plus for project support material. I got EN+ for free through submitting a handwriting sample. You can find details on Evernote’s frontpage.

Jason has been on vacation all week in NYC so I hope that he and his wife have a safe trip back and have a nice weekend to all.

  • I submitted a handwriting sample for a free copy of Evernote Plus also. It was a neat experience, even if it was nothing more than copying a bunch of nonsensical phrases.

Personally, I love the program for support material in my everyday computer related stuff. However, I gave it a shot as a task manager (tried to use the to do list templates etc that came with it) but I gave it up.

I’ll have to download the Outlook 2007 beta. I haven’t used Outlook in years and it might be interesting to see how it’s changed. Thanks for the link.

  • I have found that I am liking EN more and more everyday. Jason uses a lot more than I do. I am still learning. I thought and tried to set it up for task mgmt, then I realized that task mgmt is not its strength (IMHO). I am using it strictly for support material.

I am torn though because I have it on my work laptop, and would like to use it at home, but there is not way to sync the database. I wonder if it will run off of a USB drive.

    (Off to the support forums….)

  • I don’t know if it’ll run off the USB drive, but I did successfully sync the database using Windows briefcase. The only thing was that I had to make sure to close the program completely before I synced so that it didn’t give me an error message.

However, I found I didn’t really need to keep it synced because I don’t use my desktop and laptop for the same tasks.

My favorite part of EN? The webclipper. I have it installed in Thunderbird, Firefox, and IE. I also like the “Send to Evernote” in my “send to” menu.

All this stuff that I used to have trouble keeping up with is so accessible now. I love it.

  • I have used evernote on a usb without any issues.
