Remember the Milk Can Help You Get Things Done

New twitter, friendfeed and BBP friend, Rahsheen Porter, has begun a new series on his blog, SheenOnline, detailing his usage of Remember the Milk (RTM) for his GTD system. It all began when I posted a link in the GTD FriendFeed room to a great post on the RTM blog titled Advanced GTD with Remember the Milk written by Doug Ireton. It is a well thought out system using just RTM.
Remember the Milk is an excellent task management app that excels with it use of tagging and smart list through the use of its search operators. It has the most powerful search system that I have seen. You can search on every piece of information that is stored in the system. You search criteria can be as simple as ‘tag:@home’ or you can craft very intricate search parameters through entering them in the search box, or through the ‘Show search options’ screen.
Doug Ireton’s post on the RTM blog is very tab heavy. You will create tabs (the main list separator in RTM) for every list that you have, whether it is a personal list or a work list. You will also have a tab for each Project you have in the system, as well as Smart Lists (lists created from whatever search parameters that you have set up) for all of your contexts and your Someday/Maybe and Waiting For lists.
Rahsheen on the other hand uses just three main tab for his Inbox and Sent (both are default RTM tabs) and a Daily tab. He also create Smart Lists for all of his Projects, Contexts, Someday/Maybe and Waiting For. This being the first in his series, I don’t have all of the details of his system, but I look forward to learning how he is using RTM.
I have been searching for ways to make my system out of RTM during which time I was contacted by the developer of GTDagenda, Dan Baluta. Both Jason and I have been using GTDagenda for a month or so, and we are both very impressed with the app, and the developer. Look for a thorough review of GTDagenda very soon.
Also, if there is any links that you would like Jason or I to look at, we have created a Black Belt Productivity tag on del.icio.us. You can tag any link with the ‘for:blackbeltprod’ tag and we will see it. And you can always tweet us @blackbeltprod. We have start lurking around FriendFeed also, and Brett Kelly of Cranking Widgets has started a Getting Things Done room there. Come by and see what is going on there.

I’ve become somewhat of a convert to paper-based task management, but RTM is easily the best web-based task manager around.

I tried out RTM and it really seems to be the best in the field, but I somehow like Things for Mac better.
I was wondering if there was a way to contact you guys, I can’t find any info on that on this brilliant blog.

In addition to having a great product, I really like the layout of their website. We used their website (amongst others) as something of a “template” for our website (http://www.NoteScribe.net).
Back to the topic though, it’s an awesome and convenient utility!
